Doreen South: First and most importantly...A warm and heart felt Thank you! for the well written history of our meeting and the announcement of my visit to your home.Your site is fantastic, Donna! Long may it serve to help other women feel good about themselves.I have some thoughts about men-o-pause. Consider the number of meanings when the 'men' part is removed i.e. O (short moment) pause; o (short moment) PAUSE. The "o-pause' in it's various connotations sounds like exclamations and instructions. With 'men'

Tis the Season!

  • Mood: anticipating good things

Tis the Season to be "Jolly"

Well Christmas is just 12 Days  away, and am I ready? Nope. There was a time when I had it all together by November 15 but not anymore. I do have my little 4 foot tree up and a few decorations around, but I notice my exuberance is well...not so exuberant anymore.

Could it be I am finally growing up, and it just doesn't get  me cranke d up anymore, or am I losing the child-like spirt? I think when my granddaughter gets here today, and sees my tree, that it my spirit will be reignited!

We are truly blessed, so many times over, so this year my husband and I are going to fill a stocking for one another instead of buying a bunch of gifts. Then we have a little something to open on Christmas morning, then it is off to pick up my or our mom's at the home, then over to my daughter's for Dinner.  I am looking forward to Christmas Day, because my sister and I will be sharing Christmas Dinner again, for the first time in about 20 years!

So to you and yours enjoy! On the first day of Christmas....

I think this year with everything that is going on in the political scene and the economy it is harder to find that 'party mood' that we may have had other years. People are scared of what the new year will bring to them and their loved ones. We have lived with lots of everything in the past few years .... material STUFF, holidays, too much food and drink. And now the party is over and I think at a time when our spirit would normally be climbing we are suffering a let down. Some people are now having to anti up for the cost of partying and are not even sure they will have a job in the coming months.
The flip side of this is that we will all come out of this being better people. Now more than ever we will begin to appreciate the true meaning of Christmas. We will know it is not what brightly wrapped gifts we give each other but that we are 'there for each other', we give of ourselves to our family and friends. I am looking forward to feeling the warmth of the love around me, I feel so blessed to be with my mother and sister for this Christmas. I will miss my children very much as my daughter is going to her in-laws and my son lives in Florida but even though my family is small, I still have 'family' here to love and share the day with. Not everyone is that fortunate.
I say to everyone, just look around you and appreciate all that we have and families to love and be with. Look at your Christmas tree as if it was the first time you have see it, enjoy the twinkling lights, take a drive at night and enjoy other people's lights and this year let's try to feel Christmas. We may discover a new Christmas and one we may model future ones on. Merry Christmas!

Thank you Sharon, you have brought out very good points....some people are concerned about their futures and it is a time to build anew......

on top of the "memospirit things happening to me" there are other losses too...I needed your encouragement to think of some of those options for building a new "model for the future".....thanks for your encouragement.

Happy Holidays
